How does a digital thermostat work(central air) If u have it set to Auto should it come on if temp is dif.?

It sounds like your maintenance guys either hooked it up wrong, have the wrong thermostat or it is a bad stat. When you have the fan on ON it is just blowing air.
Call em up and tell them to come back cause it ain't workin.
