14 stolen pick-up trucks recovered from containers

KLANG - The police recovered 14 stolen pick-up trucks which were about to be shipped overseas.

Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Mohd Adnan Abdullah said two men were also detained in a raid at 6am on Oct 16.

"A police team from Kuala Lumpur ambushed and arrested the two men at a warehouse in Bukit Jelutong. There, they seized two Toyota Hilux," he told reporters yesterday.

Thirty minutes later, a team from the North Klang district police headquarters recovered 12 more Toyota Hilux in a raid at Northport, Port Klang.

"The 12 trucks were placed in four containers and we believe they were being shipped overseas," he said.

All vehicles were reported stolen between Oct 4 and 14, he said.

"We are looking for the mastermind. We are also checking if they are connected to the Black Water syndicate we busted a few months ago," he said.

In June, police smashed the biggest car theft syndicate in two years after seizing 98 cars worth RM8 million (S$3.23 million) from a warehouse in Kampung Black Water, Banting.
